Prompt Engineering Tutorial
Prompt engineering is the skill of writing instructions that get useful, accurate results from AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
The same AI can give a weak answer or an excellent one. Often the only difference is the prompt. A clear prompt says who the answer is for, what you need, what information to use and what the result should look like.
You do not need to be a programmer to learn prompting. Students, teachers, shop owners, marketers and freelancers all benefit from it.
What You Will Learn
- What makes a prompt good, and common mistakes
- Giving the AI a role and an audience
- Adding context so the AI does not guess
- Showing examples (few-shot prompting)
- Asking for step-by-step work
- Getting answers as tables, lists or JSON
- Ready-to-use prompt patterns for coding, study and business
A Quick Example
A weak prompt:
Example
Write about computers.A strong prompt:
Example
You are a friendly computer teacher. Explain what a computer's
CPU does to Class 8 students in Karachi. Use one example from
daily life, keep it under 100 words, and end with a quiz question. The second prompt gives a role, an audience, a length and a format, so the answer is far more useful.
Exercises and Quiz
Every lesson ends with an exercise. The last lesson is a quiz on the whole tutorial.
