AI Tools for Video and Voice
AI tools can write video scripts, add captions, edit by text, generate short clips and turn text into natural-sounding speech.
What AI Can Do for Video and Audio
| Task | What it means | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Script writing | Draft a script or a list of scenes | ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude |
| Auto captions | Create subtitles from speech | CapCut, YouTube, most phone editors |
| Text-based editing | Edit a video by deleting words from its transcript | Descript and similar tools |
| Text-to-video | Create a short clip from a prompt | Google Veo, Runway, Kling, Sora |
| Text-to-speech | Turn written text into a voice-over | ElevenLabs, built-in voices in editors |
| Transcription | Turn a recording into text | Meeting tools, phone recorders, chat assistants |
| Clean-up | Remove background noise, fix uneven sound | Adobe Podcast, editor features |
Planning a Video with AI
For most creators, the biggest time saver is planning, not generating video. Ask a chat assistant for a script with timings:
Example
Write a 30-second Instagram Reel script for a mobile repair shop in
Karachi. Show 3 quick tips to make a phone battery last longer.
Format: time, what we see, what is said. Simple English.0-5s | Shop owner holding a phone | "Phone battery dying too fast?
Try these 3 tips."
5-12s | Close-up of brightness setting | "Tip 1: Lower your screen
brightness or use auto."
12-20s | Settings screen, apps list | "Tip 2: Close apps running in
the background you don't use."
20-27s | Phone on charger | "Tip 3: Avoid charging to 100%
all night, every night."
27-30s | Shop front and name | "Need a new battery? Visit us!"You then film it yourself, with your real shop and your real face. Viewers trust real people more than AI-generated clips.
Generating Video Clips
Text-to-video tools create short clips, usually a few seconds long. They are useful for backgrounds, simple product scenes or ideas, but they still have limits:
- Clips are short, and long stories need many clips joined together
- People, hands and text can look strange
- Keeping the same character across clips is hard
- They use a lot of credits, so free plans are limited
A video prompt is like an image prompt, plus movement and camera:
Example
Slow camera move towards a plate of fresh samosas on a table at an
iftar gathering, steam rising, warm evening light, realistic,
8 seconds, no people, no text.Write "no text" in video and image prompts unless you need text. Tools often add messy, misspelt letters you will have to remove.
Voice: Text-to-Speech and Transcription
Text-to-speech tools read your script in a natural voice and many languages, including Urdu in several tools. They are useful for explainer videos, course lessons and announcements.
Transcription goes the other way: it turns speech into text. This is useful for:
- Making captions, so people can watch without sound
- Turning a recorded class or interview into notes
- Writing a blog post from a video you already made
Always read transcripts and captions before publishing. AI often mishears names, local words and mixed Urdu-English speech.
Voice Cloning and Deepfakes
Some tools can copy a person's voice or face from a short sample. This is powerful and risky.
- Only clone your own voice, or someone's voice with their clear written permission
- Never make fake audio or video of real people saying things they did not say
- Scammers use cloned voices to call families and ask for money. If a "relative" calls in panic asking for money, hang up and call them back on their known number
- Platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram ask creators to label realistic AI-generated content
Fake content of real people can break laws in Pakistan and other countries, and can seriously harm people.
